Current Opening: Director of Programming
The Director of Programming is responsible for being an active & engaged Board Member, planning & creating events, programs, or sessions to engage the community & volunteers, and assisting with all other related needs of the Board.
Authority & Responsibility
The Fusion Halifax Board of Directors is elected by the membership to govern the organization and manage its activities. The Board of Directors has the legal authority and ultimate responsibility for the success of Fusion Halifax. All board members have a moral, legal and financial responsibility to all Fusion Halifax stakeholders to direct and protect the interests of the organization. The Board of Directors reports annually to the Fusion Halifax membership at its annual general meeting.
Term & Commitment
The Director of Programming is a two-year term, effective November 2018.
The Director of Programming position requires a time commitment of approximately 5-10 hours per week. See specific details below:
Host a meeting with volunteers to plan & strategize Fusion hosted events/sessions.
There are 12 two-hour Board meetings per year that all Directors are expected to attend.
Participation on various board subcommittees is expected and encouraged, 3-4 hours a month.
There are many Fusion hosted events each year. Directors are expected to attend a minimum of eight per term year.
Acts as a liaison between the Fusion Board of Directors and volunteers.
Prepares for and attends monthly Board of Directors meetings.
Coordinates and leads regular team meetings for various events & subcommittees.
Builds relationships with in-kind and monetary sponsors to support team projects and events.
Plans and executes a minimum of 2-4 events, programs or projects a year.
Recruits newcomers to the organization and promotes the organization to relevant networks.
Develops and maintains a network of relationships to various initiatives in Halifax.
Acts as an ambassador internally and externally to Fusion Halifax in the community.
Recruits and engages interested committee members and potential new directors.
Represents Fusion Halifax at strategic local and regional government, community and business initiatives/events.
Liaise with community partners for relevant joint events or projects.
Build relationships with other Directors and volunteers to foster collaboration and joint projects.
Qualifications & Skills
The Director of Programming has:
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Passion for professional development of young professionals.
Knowledge of key community organizations related to diversity, inclusion and community development.
The ability to engage, manage and motivate a team of volunteers.
The Board of Fusion Halifax is comprised of 15 individuals with diverse expertise and skills. Community members from all backgrounds between the ages of 20-40 are encouraged to apply. Fusion Halifax Board Directors are:
