A principal with WHW Architects since 1996, John is responsible for green building leadership, design coordination, project management and business development. An award winning designer, he was one of the first architects in Canada to successfully write both the US and Canada Green Building Council LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) examinations. He has been a CaGBC LEED assessment team member since 2005 with over 25 projects reviewed from all over Canada.
John is actively involved with 4 LEED projects currently underway at WHW Architects including the award winning Joggins Fossil Cliffs Interpretive Centre. John is a director of the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) and a founding member and Vice-Chair of the Atlantic Chapter-CaGBC where he also chairs the Communications Committee. John is a member of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce Energy Security Committee and the Green Business Council. John has been the design team leader and project manager for some of WHW’s most significant recent work including major renovations and additions to Halifax Stanfield International Airport and for the Planning and Design of Venues for Halifax’s bid for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. He is currently co-leader for the Dalhousie University Campus Master Plan where he is working on the sustainability and green building issues for the campus.
