Richard is the Manager of Sustainable Environment Office for HRM . He is the innovator of numerous sustainability programs in the Halifax community, from the ‘Solar City’ program for residential hot water generation to Metro Transit hybrid retrofit

Finalists:

Sean Gallagher

• Sean has made local food not only much more accessible, but also hip and more delicious. He has shown Halifax that great food can be sourced locally, saving carbon miles and supporting local rural stewards of the land.
• He has created green jobs with his Local Source store front and catering business and works with local ENGO’s to host workshops on cooking in season with local ingredients.

Jen Powley

• Jen is the HRM Coordinator with Ecology Action Centre
• She spearheaded the HRM Alliance to influence the review of municipal planning and formed a positive, issue based coalition, that will provide a strong voice on the regional plan review.
