Winner: Rany Ibrahim

Rany dedicates significant efforts to building a welcoming environment for new arrivals to Nova Scotia from his role at the Office of Immigration and as a community member. He takes it upon himself to act as a welcome wagon for new immigrants moving into the area who are looking for advice and support He is also a Ph.D. student and part-time lecturer at Dalhousie University.

John Britton

• Originally from the United Kingdom, moved to Halifax in 2010. He has embraced the Maritimes and is working tirelessly to improve the accessibility of quality care to patients with heart disease.
• John is the producer of ‘Eat Your Heart Out’, a charity cookbook to promote heart disease in support of the Maritime Heart Centre and this fresh approach to charity has engaged the HRM restaurant community in a unique way.

Champ Reyes

• Champ has implemented a dynamic online social media promotion presence of Halifax via her Best of Halifax site and Twitter efforts.
• Her positive attitude, smart work and community engagement has led to her successful personal and business career advancement and she is an example to other newcomers.
