Winner: Jennifer Church

Jen Churh_Metropolitan WEBAs Managing Director of Corporate and External Affairs for HRM, Jennifer is leading initiatives to grow the green economy, deliver a new economic strategy for the city, foster strategic urban partnerships, and transform HRM’s corporate culture.

Jennifer’s work with the federal and provincial governments, corporations, and other external stakeholders, has been critical to the success HRM has enjoyed in receiving funding for major infrastructure projects such as the new Halifax Library and the Canada Games Centre.

Finalists:

Stephen Lund

  • As president and CEO of Nova Scotia Business Inc., Stephen and his team identified an opportunity to grow the international financial services sector in Halifax. That sector now employs thousands of people and continues to grow, creating new jobs and economic spinoffs.
  • Stephen serves on the Boards of Directors for Neptune Theatre and the IWK Health Centre, is a strong supporter of young people including FUSION Halifax, and has been a vocal proponent for progress and development in the downtown core.

Ken Williment

  • As Community Outreach Manager for the Halifax Public Libraries, Ken has been instrumental in developing and promoting community integration within HRM. He works with individuals and neighbourhoods that were socially excluded and economically disadvantaged to foster a sense of pride and connection to civic life.
  • Ken has improved cross cultural understanding and profoundly changed the service direction of the Library, from a First Nations reading and conversation circle designed for the Central Library to helping new immigrants integrate comfortably into Canadian life.
