HALIFAX, NS, April 6, 2011 — FUSION Halifax was honoured to be a recipient of
a 2011 Haliward. The award was presented during a ceremony held at the Maritime
Museum of the Atlantic on Saturday, April 2.
Established in 2009, the Haliwards give people of the HRM the chance to celebrate
people and organizations within their community who do extraordinary things and the
positive impact they have on the community.
Jennifer Berry, Chair of FUSION Halifax was on hand to accept the award on behalf of
the organization, “This award really belongs to hundreds of FUSION Halifax members
who have worked to make FUSION Halifax what it is today,” she highlighted. “I would
like to recognize the Founding Chair of FUSION Halifax, Peter Moorehouse as well as
past Chairs Alyson Queen and Cheryl Stewart who both made tremendous contributions
through their hard work and leadership.”
The only organization to receive an award this year, FUSION Halifax is an organization
that exists to connect, engage and inspire people in the 20-40 demographic, to take
action and make Halifax the most vibrant city in Canada.
At the core of FUSION Halifax is helping young people achieve their dreams and plans
for the city of Halifax, which Berry equates with the Haliwards. “This is a team of highly
committed young people who have come together and created a way to recognize
people who are doing good things,” Berry enthused.” “We really appreciate their efforts.”
