Excerpt from Final Thoughts section of the report (page 8):

I am stepping away from an organization that has been a fundamental part of my life in Halifax since I returned in 2006. I am so proud of what we have accomplished and where we are heading. We are making a difference in this city -- one member, one event, one issue at a time. And we are doing it in a way that is positive and yet pushes people to places where they might be a bit uncomfortable. I like to think that this generation will be the generation that says- we will support people who ‘try’. We will think and act differently to make the future better. We will get people jazzed about their role in that growth. FUSION Halifax is doing that. When we created this organization- we could have never imagined that we would be here today, making this kind of impact and that we would have 2,400 members, many of them engaged in and connected to things they care about!

I like to think that I had a small role to play in where this organization is today. I know that it has played a huge role in where I am today. I have learned, been inspired, fallen down, gotten back up, kicked the tires, pushed the boundaries of what is, watched people hold onto what is, pushed again, watched us change our city, watched us change each other. I have grown. FUSION has grown. Halifax has grown. And at the end of the day, isn’t that what this is all about? Getting involved, being passionate? Taking responsibility? Trying new things? Growth and moving forward? Learning? Aspiring? Togetherness? A legacy? Yep. For me personally, it’s a small part of my legacy for an even more important legacy. My son. I want Easton to look back and know that his mommy rolled up her sleeves and got ‘dirty’. It has been an honour to serve in this capacity.

Thank you.
