Each of the Directors of Health and Wellness and Immigration and Diversity are responsible for building and managing their respective “Action Teams”.
Responsibilities of Director of Action Teams include:
- Member of FUSION Halifax Board of Directors (see below)
- Primary spokesperson for team (subject matter expert)
- Oversees strategy for team, including identifying which projects to pursue
- Oversees recruitment, retention and engagement (management) of team members
- Manages succession planning for team
- Acts as advocate for team at FUSION Halifax Board
Responsibilities of Action Teams include:- Development of yearly “action plan”
- External communications to community and members (via website, e-blast, community newsletters, etc.)
- Community and member engagement (through lunch-and-learn sessions, open events, etc.)
- Internal communications to other action teams
- Research and policy
- Minutes and other administration
Responsibilities as a member of the FUSION Halifax Board of Directors:
The Board of Directors is elected by the FUSION members to govern the organization and manage its activities. The Board carries out its governance/management function through monthly meetings, team and individual work, and by electronic communication. The Board is responsible for the governance and operations of FUSION, including the following:
- Setting Direction/Strategy:
o Determining the Organizational mission and vision, values and broad goals and objectives of FUSION and organizational structure.
o Carrying out organizational planning, including updating the strategic plan and overseeing the process of creating action team work plans.
- Overseeing Operations:
o Building and managing FUSION resources
o Meeting legal and professional requirements: abide by the requirements of and exercise powers in accordance with the Societies Act, and the by-laws and policies of FUSION
o Maintaining and developing Policies and Procedures
o Creating board teams or committees, and delegate responsibilities of the board as appropriate, while maintaining an appropriate level of supervision
o Creating and managing action teams as necessary to address the issues that are important to the membership.
- Liaising with the Community:
o Communicating with and engaging FUSION membership
o Communicating with and engaging the broader community
o Serving as ambassadors of FUSION
The objects of FUSION include:
- To improve the city of Halifax for young residents: making Halifax a better place to live, work and play
- To facilitate networking and discussion among young Halifax residents including the organization of action teams
- To highlight and create social, volunteer, economic, leisure and cultural opportunities for young Halifax residents
