FUSION Halifax is proud to announce support for Nocturne: Art at Night - an exciting, new, signature arts event for Halifax in October!
Nocturne is a night time arts festival that will bring light and colour to the streets of Halifax on October 18, 2008. Taking place in downtown Halifax from 6:00 pm until midnight, the festival will see the city’s streets come alive with art and energy! Inspired by the success and popularity of similar late-night arts festivals occurring all over the world (most notably, events like “Nuit Blanche” in cities including Paris, Montreal and Toronto), Nocturne will celebrate the dynamic and exciting arts community here in Halifax, bringing together visual and performing arts with street-level accessibility.
Designed and initiated by volunteers within the community, including members of Fusion Halifax, Nocturne will be a signature arts event for HRM that is easily accessible, free of charge and completely unique to the city. Attendees – tourists and residents alike - will have the opportunity to visit a number of the city’s art organizations, including both public and private art galleries, and experience art in many of Halifax's public spaces.
The intention of the event is to encourage attendees to experience a variety of exhibitions and installations in one evening. An event program and map will be available to participants. The overall spirit of the event will excite and intrigue visitors. Nocturne hopes to leave a lasting impression of cultural celebration, encouraging both growth and interest in the vibrant arts community that calls Halifax home.
Fusion members will have the unique opportunity to volunteer and participate in the event - so stay tuned for details! In the meantime, please visit the website at www.nocturnehalifax.ca. The deadline for artist and gallery applications (available on the site) to participate is Friday, July 18, 2008.
Email your friends and mark October 18th in your calendar - this is an event not to be missed.
