* Why FUSION Halifax? What do you hope to accomplish in your role this year?

FUSION Halifax is one of the ways in which I engage with the city, it is a vehicle for meeting and working with talented people who will shape the future of our city and region.

I hope that as treasurer and a member of the executive team I can help the organization mature and move closer to fulfilling its potential as an organization that embodies the future of our city.

* Tell us something about yourself that we’d be surprised to know:

I’ve typed this entire bio with my eyes closed.

About your HALIFAX

* What do you love about the East Coast? What’s the best thing about living in Halifax?

Living in Halifax I am able to completely avoid the feeling of living a solely urban life, this was a feeling that sometimes came upon me when living in larger cities. Here I feel connected to the places outside the city and I am able to meet and work with Nova Scotians who make up the other site of the urban / rural balance in our province.

* If the sky was the limit, what would you change about Halifax?

The sky is the limit. I want to change this city so that we encourage attachment and engagement for all who live here. If we are emotionally attached to our city and our region that means that we will be willing to fight for improvement, make sacrifices, and understand how we can improve with change. This change in attitude can help us overcome seemingly impossible barriers and help make our city a beacon for other cities and regions, showing how community led changes are imperative to improving overall quality of life.

* What is your favorite restaurant/pub/place to meet?

Coastal Coffee

* What would you tell a new young person moving to Halifax?

I think I would highlight what makes our city unique, the fact that we are a mid-sized city but we have cultural amenities that are on par with larger Canadian cities and that we have unprecedented access to nature both on the water and on the land. We don’t suffer from urban congestion and the pace of life is such that you can enjoy all experiences with a lot more opportunity for reflection.

* If someone were to ask you, “Who should I know in Halifax?” Who would you recommend they meet?

Everyone, it’s a small city and you should take advantage and meet as many people as possible.
