| * Occupation: Public Relations Specialist * Birthplace/Home Town:Port Saunders, NL * Where else have you lived? St. John’s, NL, Mount Pearl, NL, Hamilton, ON,
Calgary, AB, Halifax, NS. * Describe yourself in three words: Energetic, Positive and Creative |
* Why FUSION Halifax? What do you hope to accomplish in your role this year?
FUSION Halifax gives me the opportunity to connect with so many people in
Halifax that I may have never come across otherwise. I love being able to help
this city grow and to be a part of the positive changes happening. This year I
want to continue to engage our members via our social media networks and share
FUSION Halifax’s achievements this year with everyone in the city.
* Tell us something about yourself that we’d be surprised to know:
I’m a
bone marrow donor and am registered in the national bone marrow database.
* What do you love about the East Coast? What’s the best thing about living
in Halifax?
The ocean, the friendliness of the people and the genuine pride in our roots
* If the sky was the limit, what would you change about Halifax?
I would change the stranglehold that some groups place on development in the
downtown core. I do believe we have to respect our heritage but there needs to
be some wiggle room to maintain a vibrant, healthy downtown core that will
attract both business and people to the area.
* What is your favorite restaurant/pub/place to meet?
It all depends on what I want to accomplish. I love Cora’s, Susie’s
Shortbreads, Second Cup on Spring Garden Road, The Wooden Monkey and Doraku
(home of the BEST sushi in Halifax!!)
* What would you tell a new young person moving to Halifax?
There are so many opportunities in Halifax to get involved and meet other
inspiring young people. You can have a voice in Halifax and mould the city into
what you want for you and for your family.
* If someone were to ask you, “Who should I know in Halifax?” Who would you
recommend they meet?
I would say meet as many people as possible. Attend networking events, lunch
and learns or even chat up the person behind you in the coffee line. Halifax is
small enough that executives, government officials and other power people in
the city are out and about in the same spaces. You never know when you’ll get
the ear of someone who can help you get connected, advance your career or
provide a valuable insight into a situation.
