What is the burning issue, your passion? What keeps you up at night?
Getting people to pay attention to what’s happening in their city…and caring enough to get involved.
Tell us a little about yourself
I don’t know how to do anything without giving 150%. It’s my biggest strength and my biggest weakness. I like to think of it as passionate, others may think of it as annoying. When I am not reading, watching or analyzing the news, I am doing one of two things: cycling or eating, sometimes I’m cycling and eating.
Why do you live in Halifax now?
I came here for university and it quickly felt like home. It’s the perfect place to build a well-balanced life, career and family.
What do you love about living in Halifax/being an East Coaster?
I can walk or bike almost anywhere I want to go. Day trips to the Annapolis Valley and the South Shore are high on my list of favorites!
What is your most memorable Halifax experience?
The tradition I started in university with a group of friends to go to the Saturday market…and of course, all the great food that came with it.
Why is it great to be young in Halifax?
Having it all at your fingertips. Everything and everyone is accessible.
What would you change about Halifax?
I’d like to change the channel. We have mastered criticism and nitpicking. We need to spend more time celebrating what we have, congratulating success and pushing progress. And, bike lanes, bike lanes, bike lanes!
What is your favorite restaurant/pub?
Opa!
What is your favorite meeting spot?
Anywhere with good espresso (Java Blend, Two If By Sea, FRED).
What would you tell a new young person moving to Halifax?
Explore every inch of Halifax. You can only experience the true character of this place when you stumble upon it unexpectedly.
If someone were to ask you, who should I ‘know’ in Halifax. Who would you recommend they meet?
Your neighbours.
