Personal Info

Employment Position: Executive Search Consultant

Employer: Knightsbridge Robertson Surrette
Occupation: Recruiter

Birthplace/Home Town: Amherst, NS
Where else have you lived? Wolfville, NS and Halifax, NS

Describe yourself in three words: Calm

What is the burning issue, your passion? What keeps you up at night?
How can Halifax employers attract, engage, and keep young professionals right here at home? I don’t like hearing about family or friends leaving the Maritimes for career opportunities elsewhere. There has to be a better way to connect employers with future leaders and give them the challenge and opportunity of advancing their career in Halifax.

Tell us a little about yourself
Originally from Amherst, NS, I completed my BBA at Acadia University and then moved straight to Halifax. I’ve been working at Knightsbridge Robertson Surrette for almost five years as an executive search consultant assisting Atlantic Canadian companies find the right talent to join their team. Having completed my MBA at Saint Mary’s University a few months ago, I'm looking forward to a little more free time on my hands. No, who am I kidding? I like to keep busy! I love going to Point Pleasant Park with the dog on the weekends, heading to the gym for a work out after work, or meeting up with family and friends to do a little shopping. I’ve been a part of FUSION Halifax since its inception in 2007 and will be taking on the Director, People Factor Action Team role this year.

About your HALIFAX

Why do you live in Halifax now?
I was born and raised in Nova Scotia and can’t imagine leaving the Maritimes. Halifax became home for me 6 years ago when I started my career after university and I haven’t regretted the move since.

What do you love about living in Halifax/being an East Coaster?

Downtown Halifax is a great spot. I love my short walk to work in the morning and the buzz on Spring Garden Road at lunch time.  From the Public Gardens to Point Pleasant Park – there’s always something close by to do on the weekends. Most of all, I love being a short drive from my entire family.

What is your most memorable Halifax experience?
I’m a country music fan at heart so Keith Urban’s concert on the Halifax Commons was pretty amazing!

Why is it great to be young in Halifax?
Halifax has a lot to offer young professionals no matter what your interests are - building your career, continuing your education, taking in the nightlife, or checking out local artists.  Even though Halifax is a city, it’s small enough that you feel connected to the pulse and can play a real part in the community.

What would you change about Halifax?

Mother Nature - a little less rain and fog would be nice!

What is your favorite restaurant/pub?
Cha Baa Thai

What is your favorite meeting spot?
Any patio along Argyle Street in the summertime.

What would you tell a new young person moving to Halifax?
Get involved! Meet as many new people as you can through volunteering or networking. It’s a small community so the more connections you have the better.
