Personal Info

Employment Position: President & CEO

Employer: Good & Co.
Occupation: Lawyer by training, business strategist by choice

Birthplace/Home Town: Halifax, NS
Where else have you lived? Ottawa and Toronto

Describe yourself in one word: Driven

What is the burning issue, your passion? What keeps you up at night?
We are on the cusp of a significant demographic shift in Atlantic Canada.  We need to create the opportunities to retain younger people and to attract our expats back home or we will be faced with the prospect of economic stagnation.

Tell us a little about yourself
I am passionate about building community capacity and the potential of Atlantic Canada.  While living away, I launched East Coast Connected – an organization dedicated to fostering Atlantic Canadian expat communities and to keeping them connected to our region. On a personal level, I am a dog lover, a Habs fan and was excited to learn that if you mix Garrison Nut Brown and Raspberry Wheat you get a delicious concoction the folks who work there call a “Peanut Butter and Jelly”.

About your HALIFAX

Why do you live in Halifax now?
I see a lot of opportunity in Halifax in the coming years and I want to be part of the unfolding story of positive change and growth in my home. Having grown up here, I can’t imagine raising a family anywhere else.

What do you love about living in Halifax/being an East Coaster?

I can walk or bike almost anywhere I want to go. Day trips to the Annapolis Valley and the South Shore are high on my list of favorites!

What is your most memorable Halifax experience?
Being selected as Dalhousie University’s outstanding young alumnus of 2008 was very special to me and wonderful night for everyone who gave so much time and energy to building East Coast Connected.

Why is it great to be young in Halifax?
There is great balance in our city – culture, restaurants, art, parks, universities and so and so on.

What would you change about Halifax?

A lot of our public debates have become very polarized and that can impact progress.

What is your favorite restaurant/pub?
Restaurant - Darrell’s for lunch, Pub – The Old Triangle

What is your favorite meeting spot?
You can often find me with lap top out working at the Starbucks at Barrington and Sackville.

What would you tell a new young person moving to Halifax?
Halifax can be the most modern historic city in Canada. Be part of making that happen.
