What is the burning issue, your passion? What keeps you up at night?
Keeping young and talented people in Halifax.

About your HALIFAX

Why do you live in Halifax now?
It’s the ultimate place to work and play!  I love that I know my neighbours, that even in downtown Halifax it takes me only 15 minutes to walk to work, that I run into people know everywhere and that I meet someone new almost every day.

What do you love about living in Halifax/being an East Coaster?

People from the East Coast, and Halifax especially, are known across the country and around the world for being friendly, welcoming, always up for a good time and having an excellent quality of life – I love that these perceptions are really true.

What is your most memorable Halifax experience?

Being involved in a municipal election campaign in 2008 illustrated for me that there is a dedicated group of young people who care about the future of our city.  We knocked on doors and talked to voters, we went to council meetings and took a stand, and we got involved in the political process because we wanted to see change.  It was honestly the most inspired time of my life and what encouraged me to get more involved in my city.

Why is it great to be young in Halifax?
There is opportunity around every corner in Halifax for young people.    It’s a great place to start a career and an easy place to meet new people and maintain old friendships.  There’s a spectacular arts and music scene, delicious restaurants and lots of options for further education and career development.

What would you change about Halifax?

We need more reliable and frequent public transit and more bike lanes. We need alternate ways to get to get on and off the peninsula and around our city.

What is your favorite restaurant/pub?

I can’t pick just one…there are too many fantastic places.  So I’ll list a few: Morris East, Whet Café, Rogue’s Roost, Henry House, Jane’s on the Common, McKelvie’s, Sushi Shige

What is your favorite meeting spot?
Just Us! on Spring Garden.
