Immigration & Diversity (ImDiv)

A great city is one that attracts people from all walks of life, fostering a dynamic culture that is welcoming and one that encourages people to get engaged in the community in the long-term. The Immigration & Diversity Action Team works with a network of organizations and individuals who are passionate about promoting cross-cultural learning opportunities and networking for all Haligonians, shaping Halifax as a place of opportunity for everyone who chooses this fine city as their home.

Mission

To foster connections among Haligonians, to spark dialogue and creative action initiatives that engage and inspire the FUSION demographic in order to shape Halifax as a welcoming place of opportunity for newcomers and the various cultural groups already infusing our city with life.

Goals & Objectives

  • Highlight the benefits of immigration and diversity to the community at large
  • Provide opportunities for dialogue and action that shape Halifax as a welcoming and open community
  • Create safe spaces for newcomers and minority groups to share their stories through their own eyes
  • Explore ways to increase networking opportunities for newcomers
